The First Year Recap

The Hedgie Press is officially a year old. A year ago I posted my first book review. It was for The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey. The blog was still called Books and Quills then and I hadn’t added the hedgehogs to the top of the blog yet. Here is a picture of all the books I reviewed during my first year.

I was really nervous about starting the blog even though it had been something I had wanted to do for a long time. At first, I decided not to share the blog on my personal social media because I was ┬ácurious to see if I could gain followers that weren’t my friends. As it turns out I can (somewhat).

The blog hasn’t grown as big as I would have liked in the past year, but I haven’t put in as much work on it as I would have liked either. That being said, I do have some great followers and you guys mean so much to me. Thanks for sticking around!

I can’t wait to see what this year of blogging has in store for me.

What kind of posts would you like to see on the blog?

Also, is anyone else not able to see the hedgehogs at the top of the page? They are gone on my end but when I go in to edit my header it claims they are still there. I’m not sure if this is a my computer problem or a WordPress site problem. It would be very helpful if you could let me know in the comments if you can still see them or not.

Out with the Old in with the New

Hello, I’m so excited to be back and tell you all about the changes I have made!

The biggest change was of course my name and URL change. I’ve spent weeks trying to come up with the perfect  name. I loved Books and Quills but it’s simply too popular of a name when it comes to literary related things. I also really wanted my URL and blog name to be the same and that couldn’t happen with Books and Quills.  The Hedgie Press will take some getting used to but I like it.

I also took the leap and wrote a book review policy. I don’t know why but the idea of sitting down to write one made me super nervous but when I actually sat down it wasn’t a big deal at all. It took me some time but it wasn’t hard. (If you’d be interested in reading a post about that process let me know and I’ll see what I can do.)

I wasn’t happy with the lack of hedgehogs on the site so I added a Meet the Hedgies page with information and pictures of my hedgehogs.

Lastly, I updated my Facebook page. I’m still trying to get my bookstagram account set up so I will share the link to that in a later post.

What do you think about the changes? I hope that you are as happy with them as I am.

Big Changes are Coming!!!

I know I’ve already been gone for a awhile, but I’m about to extend my absence for the rest of this week. I’ve got some updates to put into place on the blog, the biggest one being a name change.

I’ve been debating a name and URL change for a few months now and I’ve finally decided to do it. Books and Quills is just too popular of a name for literary related things and I really want my blog to be unique. My content won’t change and of course hedgehogs will still be involved. I can’t wait to tell you the new name of Books and Quills but I will have to wait until Saturday.

The website will still be up and I will still be responding to comments, I just won’t be publishing new posts for the rest of this week.

Until Saturday, have a great week and happy Halloween!
